Can’t Women Live Single on Their Own in Indian Society?

Indian society has been so framed where there is little or no place for women. Women are only seen as housewives and objects to be treated as men want to.

Equality exists no where. Not even in urban areas or cities. I too had been a victim of gender discrimination & sexual harassment. Indian society mostly exploits women in the name of culture restricting freedom of women & giving undue freedom to men. Women are made to keep quiet in the name of shame while on the other hand shameless men do as they want & people here blame women for what all men do, the dresses they wear, even laughing & smiling is thought of as misconduct & provocating men in the Indian society.

Even some women blindly favour men & love to get themselves exploited & those who raise voices against it are mistreated & misbehaved with. Past two years was like a hell to me, when I was in my college & the students & the management left no stone unturned to effect my studies & lower my grades just because of a boy who was unnecessarily after me. Most of them tried to misbehave with me, passed comments, even girls for no fault of mine. Is this the culture in which if everything is covered & is wrong gets society’s approval but if anything even right which they know is disclosed just because it is linked to a girl or a woman is overhyped making no room for me even to breathe. Last two years I felt I was living with insane people. After having clearled all things still they were after me & monitored me unnecessarily. They even gave me internal marks less than others after that incident happened. Even though I complained but nothing can be done as this is India, my free India with no freedom for women to venture out is a big thing, we don’t even get enough freedom to do our work without being teased or harassed unnecessarily just because of being a caste of women who are weak, downtrodden & objects of marriage in this society & their dreams & their own life is not given worth & their is only struggle for those things which men easily get.

And the most important thing is that they can never be assumed single without having any affair. Indian women are born just to cry “oh it’s a girl, we need to marry her & collect money for it”. No one says that we want to see her becoming something & to marry or not is her choice. Where is the freedom & right to life. I can’t see anywhere.
